Keys To the Past

Look what I found!! I love old skeleton keys. Not only are they beautiful and decorative, but it's so fun to think about their past. What were they used for, where did they come from? Did they unlock the door to a really old home? Perhaps the dream home of a once newlywed couple. Or maybe it was a prized china cabinet filled with sentimental pieces from a favorite auntie. An antique armoire filled with fabulous linens? The possibilities are endless and as I place these old keys here and there, the imagination is free to run wild with thoughts of years past...
Enjoy your day!
xo,
Kathleen

  1. So interesting. And you've displayed them in such beautiful ways.

Yes, old keys can send us to lovely wonderings. Like old photographs can...

But to me, old photographs which have been abandoned in a shop ~ always make me sad, too. Not so, with keys, though.

  4. Great find! I love those keys - there is something so secretive about them to me, and of course, beautiful.
I love what you've done with them - have fun finding more places that can be graced by them.

  8. If you love old skelton keys, you would have loved the one I found at Feathers today. It was a large wrought iron key that hangs on the wall.

I think about things like that too. I'm so interested in things of the past. When I see an old house I wonder who lived there, did they have children, how many etc.

Love how you captured the photos. Very creative.

Your photographs of the old keys are lovely. I often wonder about old keys and their history - there is something timely and very enduring about old keys.

    Have a beautiful week.
