Just as I suspected, we were timing contractions by 5pm. They were 5 minutes apart for several hours and not lasting for more than 30 seconds at a time so we decided to wait on going to the hospital for awhile. I called the midwife at 7:55pm and at 9pm hubby and I were on the way to the hospital. We arrived about 9:25pm and by then, the contractions were one right on top of the other. Thank goodness we didn't wait any longer or we just might have had our baby girl on the side of the road! She arrived 2 hours later. There was no time for an epidural or anything so I am very proud to say that she was born completely naturally. It was very painful but truthfully, an experience that I would never trade for anything in the world. I've always had an epidural in the past so this was completely new territory. It was an amazing experience and I have a whole new respect for all of you moms out there who have done this naturally!
I want to thank all of you who left me such kind comments and prayed for us. As the day was going on and I was getting more and more anxious, reading your thoughts and prayers brought me to tears and were calming to me as well. Your kindness and thoughtfulness are overwhelming and I thank you all for that from the bottom of my heart!

Thank you for your sweet comments about the table runner and chair covers too. When we arrived home from the hospital yesterday and I saw the table runner stretched across the table, I had to laugh at myself. I was so anxious that day that I made everything, I was working on them as if my life depended on it. I was praying and working so hard to try to distract myself and now every time I see the finished projects, I will remember that day from beginning to end and remember the special day little Abbey was born and the prayers of special friends who helped get me through!
God Bless you all and thank you for sharing in our special day!
~~
I'm going to run for now, the sweet little one is hungry and calling but I'll return soon to post more pictures and to get back to all of you individually. Thank you again for your support and emails!

ReplyDeleteSweet sweet Abbie Grace...or is it Abbey? She is the most beautiful baby girl I've seen (in a long long time...'cause you know I thought mine were beauties) I'm so grateful to hear our prayers were answered and that you were able to have her naturally. I had all four of mine naturally and I am so thankful for the grace to have had them all in such a way. There really are no words to describe. I have a Grace(the one born in our truck on the way to the hospital. I think I told you) You are amazing to be able to blog already. ReplyDeleteDear Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to see your new precious baby Abigail Grace!!!
I have not kept up much, because my husband ended up in the hospital the day after Thanksgiving in NC with a massive stroke and other complications, and after 3 hospitals, came home to Hospice in the beginning of February. He passed away, too young, at the end of May. We are heartbroken without him, but continue onward somehow.
I also missed the fireworks, although I do love them:).
Blessings on the birth of your new little one. She is gorgeous! Blessings to you with your family. Natural child birth is such a wonderful and fulfilling event. God Bless.
