Collections

Collections!
Such fun to start and the hunt for pieces to add to them - even more fun!!
I thought it would be interesting to do a post about collections. I'd love to hear about what you collect. Here are just a few of my favorites. First, I love pearl or any cream color handled flatware.
Old tarnished silver

Buttons!

One can never have too many buttons.

I love these old shoe forms

Old photographs, although I do find it a bit sad because it always makes me wonder why the families got rid of them in the first place. Wasn't there someone who wanted them to pass down to other family members?
Cherubs - I love to collect them too!

Oh yes, definitely roosters

another of my favorites!

What do you collect? I'd love to hear about it. Enjoy and have a great day everyone!
xo,
Kathleen

years ago I used to collect post cards from when folks wrote to me while on their travels.
Now a days, I collect spoons from our travels as a family. Their are small and inexpensive and they travel well.

I love what you collect and collect many of the same, myself. I love and collect old mismatched silverware and etched glassware. I collect white ironstone, small pebbles and sea glass from the beach, vintage jewelry and old love letters.

I have a small collection of angels in my bedroom mostly given to me by friends and my children or lucky finds at thrift stores or yard sales. I have mostly Sarah's angels (about 10), one Willow Creek and a few small Jim Shore's. They're lovely; and fortunately, I'm in no hurry to add to them. So, it's a very relaxed collection, you could say.

Love your roosters. I collect ruby red glassware, carved wooden boxes, and my fav collection, celery vases, sometimes referred to as funeral vases or swung glass vases.

It seems we collect many of the same things!!! I also like to find vintage linens, 'made in japan' pottery pieces, old kitchen items, anything that reminds me they had previous owners and I wonder where they've been and what things these items have 'seen'!

I have a thing for old photographs as well, I feel so melancholic to know that was someone's baby/mom/grandfather, etc... and now they end up in a bin at some flea market for a couple of cents. :(

I love these collections! I'm quite fond of buttons. And shoe forms. I had one once, must have lost it along the way. I adore roosters. Quilts of course! I too gather old photos from the antique malls. They look so forlorn and forgotten! I collect old washboards. Too much to list!

I sometimes wonder if I am a "collector" or an "accumulator" of crusty old things. Like you, I love vintage silver - the more tarnished, the better, and old linens, I have a number of old clocks (love the faces), and a few primitive dolls, about 100 pieces of vintage McCoy pottery, a number of Bates bedspreads and old woolen blankets... and I love it all!

Hi kathleen, i absolutely love your collections, love the rooster. I hadn't collected much in the past few years, i stopped to simplify my life (didnt like dusting..lol) However, in the past few months i did have somewhat of an obsession for drum stools, so many pretty ones!!! I now have 4 of them spread through out the house, but I bought them all on major clearance which was even more of a bonus, like in total all i bought all 4 for less than the price of one, gotta love clearances.
have a good day

In addition to a few of the things YOU collect, I collect tins - chintz patterned types in browns and blue. I'm just drawn to them.

I have a collection of "naive" oil paintings, generally floral. I also collect blue & white dishes and white soup tureen.....

I collect TOO many things :)

I am glad to have stumbled on your blog. It is cozy and inviting. Replenishes my "spirit".

Hello Kathleen,
I love to stop by your blog and what a great post! Collections :)
I go through collection phases.. hehe, from Pez dispensers when I was a kid to glass beads to vintage gloves to recipes. The one I stick to are my dollhouse miniatures. I love to find vintage pieces for my dollhouse. It is so much fun to find that one unique piece! I also have a vintage postcard collection that I add to off and on.
Have a great Sunday!
Cheers,
Reisl

Your treasures and pictures are beautiful! We collect some of the same things! I have roosters in my wanna be French Country kitchen, and I some old buttons from my Grandma and Mom. I also really treasure all the family photos passed down to me, especially the the very old ones. I also feel sad when I see old photos cast aside all on their lonesome. I have some old silver, and a cherub or two, even the shoe thingies... I'm running outta space to list the rest of the things passed down to me. But, I would trade it all... to have my Grandma and especially my Mom back here with me. Hope your weekend is one you treasure forever!
